Do as Directed
There is a section in English question paper which many students have hard time answering, and it’s called as ‘ Do as Directed’ . There are some instructions given by the one who has set the question paper to help the students answer accurately. This is a type of advise, instruction, direction. But many students don’t do as directed and hence they fail.
Similarly our Creator God has given us instructions, advice, directions and if we fail to obey we will fail miserably.
Luke 5:4 – ” Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch”
Jesus is speaking this not to the fishermen but He is telling the future Apostles, Fishers of men . It was after this miracle their identity, future will change forever . So today what is that thing which God is directing you to do? He is not looking at your present job, identity, status but what this act obedience will produce in your life.
Jesus spoke to them when they failed in their life and their efforts produced nothing. In our nothingness listen to the voice of God , hear Him leading and guiding you to a supernatural experience. It will be so wonderful that you will say
Surely it is the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in our eyes
But the fishermen were not ready to do as directed to them by Jesus. They had their defence ready and we also do the same many times.
Why were they not ready to do as directed by Jesus?
Luke 5: 5 -‘ Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.
1) Their Past Experience :-
They failed in their efforts, they really worked hard, gave their time and energy but the result was discouraging. We all have been there sometime in our life. We thought that we will surely be victorious, we will get that job, we will get that promotion since we have worked hard but the result surprised us. So when we hear the voice of God to do it again , suddenly the thoughts of past failure haunts us. We think what if I fail again?
Isaiah 43:18, 19- ” Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past.“Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,Now it will spring forth;
We need to forget the past and focus on our future, since He has made everything new.
2) I know it All Attitude :-
Many times we think we know it all and don’t need anyone to tell us what to do. When Jesus told them Let your nets down for a Catch they said Jesus we thank you for your loving concern about our situation but we know our business better, we know this water very well. We know this is not proper time to get result .Psalms 31:15-” My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!
We need to be confident that God is in control of everything around us. He changes everything that concerns us today.
3) It’s Part of Life ideology :-
If things doesn’t go the way we planned then usually we say may be it’s just part of Life , may be this is what written in my life journey. We usually console ourselves by saying this things. The fishermen told Jesus, ‘ Thank you for your concern but we are used to this failure and also think may be this is part of Life.
But God’s word doesn’t support this ideology. Romans 8:37 says, ” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
When we are saved and filled with Holy Spirit we can win and be victorious in everything we take in our hands we succeed.
Don’t Just Put the Nets in the water but Pull it by faith. You might not see the fish, you might not feel the Fish but they are coming in your net.
Why ?
Because Jesus has made us Fishers of men. We walk by faith and not by sight . Take the words of Jesus seriously and act upon it.
Sow with one hand and reap with other.
When God tells you to do something do as directed and you will see miracles.
John 11:38- ” Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
Lot of times what God tells us to do will not make any sense but we need to believe His words. What if they didn’t do as Jesus directed them? If they didn’t take away the a stone? He is ready to perform the miracles and supernatural wonders only if we are willing to do as He directs us.
Even during the wedding at Cana there was no wine. Jesus was approached for solution and He told them to draw water , it would have surprised them but they did as they were directed and there was supernatural miracle.
Today there is a supernatural miracle waiting for you only if you do as Holy Spirit directs you. Just for a moment keep all your ideologies, past experiences, laws and regulations and just do as He tells you it will blow your mind, greater things are yet to come only if you do as directed.
